In this Poznań apartment, colour does more than decorate the rooms. Designed by Monika Rogusz-Witkoś of COI Studio, the interior is organised around a measured palette of yellow and terracotta, with deep brown cabinetry and a blue ceiling introducing darker and cooler notes into the composition.
The colours are distributed with enough precision to give the apartment a distinct rhythm without making it feel overly controlled. Yellow brings brightness into the kitchen, while terracotta adds a denser, earthier presence. The brown cabinetry gives the room visual weight, and the blue overhead surface changes the temperature of the space from above.
Natural light continually alters these relationships. During the day, textures become more pronounced as sunlight moves across the kitchen, revealing shifts in surface, shadow and colour. Later, when artificial light takes over, the darker cabinetry becomes more prominent and the blue ceiling takes on a quieter character.
This changing atmosphere is central to the apartment. Its appearance is never entirely fixed, because the balance between colour, material and illumination keeps shifting throughout the day.
The project, developed by Craft of Interior, also treats the home as a place for both concentration and withdrawal. The kitchen can function as a practical working environment, while the surrounding spaces retain a softer, more introspective quality.
Nothing here relies on excess. The character comes from the interaction of a few carefully chosen colours, solid materials and the passage of light. Over the course of a day, the apartment keeps adjusting itself, revealing different depths without changing its fundamental structure.
